Central Elementary Students Examine Different Career Paths

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” Students hear this question quite often. 

Central Elementary Counselor Mia Jordan hoped she could help students spark an interest in a profession by putting together the school’s annual Career Day Fair.

Students, in third through fifth grade, had the opportunity to explore different career paths as they rotated among 40 different vocation booths. At each station students were able to ask questions, see demonstrations and determine their level of interest in the occupation.

A deputy sheriff, coal miner, disc jockey, ER doctor, tattoo artist and photographer along with many other professions were represented. Students from the John Marshall High School Career & Technical Education Simulated Workplace classes showed the elementary students what programs are offered.
