Central Elementary raised the most money of all of the local, West Virginia schools that participated in the 6th annual Operation Toy Lift pledge drive. The 5th grade Kind Club spearheaded the collection at the school.

Operation Toy Lift is a collaboration among law enforcement agencies in West Virginia and Ohio, along the Ohio River. Gifts to the program come in the form of toys and monetary donations. The Central Elementary School Kind Club’s grand total collected from students, faculty, staff and community members was around $260.

Thanks to the students’ large contribution to the program, Central Elementary School Counselor Jenna Dompa was selected as one of the special guests who was lifted high in the foggy air above the Ohio Valley Mall, in a bucket truck, Saturday afternoon to draw attention to the drive.

The distribution of items collected will be handed out by The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley.
